... this was the date of the official opening of the first Vavantas store on the Hasselsesteenweg in Melveren (St.-Truiden).
The owners, Mr and Mrs Vanstapel and Vavidin, employed staff to assist them.
In the beginning they sold sports shoes, clothing and leather goods.
That''s where their name came from: Vavidin Vanstapel Tassen (Bags) Milestones - 26 June 1975: opening of the store in Boutersem.
- 1977: Expansion of the product range to include toys.
- 27 June 1986: opening of the store in Riemst.
- End of the Eighties: Expansion of the product range to include school outfits and stationery.
Vavantas in 2000
Vavantas is a limited company headed by Mrs Paula Vavidin (Managing Director).
She is assisted by Messrs Marc and Dirk Vanstapel (directors).
Today Vavantas has 3 stores and employs ± 20 staff. The product range includes fashion wear, leather goods, shoes, school outfits, sports items and toys.
Partly thanks to intensive local and regional sponsoring of several sports organisations, both small and big Vavantas has become a household name.
